Crowned the industry’s first six-phase PWM controllers, the ADP4000 and ADP4100 meet the current performance requirements of Intel’s VR11.1 specification, the latest desktop/server spec for 2008 desktop and server platforms to conserve power during light-loading to save energy and generate less heat. Both devices integrate protection and monitoring features such as current-limit protection with a delayed latch-off function, power-good monitoring, and high pull-up to indicate voltage is within normal limits. They exploit the company’s Fast Enhancement PWM (FEPWM) architecture, an improved version of EPWM, to achieve fast turn-on during transients while preserving the clocking system. FEPWM also maintains interleaving between phases, even during transients, for input-filter power reductions. The ADP4000 includes a PMBus programmable digital interface and supports 25 PMBus-defined commands and 38 manufacturer-specific commands.
