Claimed as easy to use due to an intuitive graphical user interface, the AFG3000 Series of arbitrary/function generators (AFG) consists of six models that deliver both arbitrary waveforms and standard functions. Based on the company’s generator on a chip (GoC) ASIC, the series supports 12 standard functions, including sinusoidal waves at frequencies up to 240 MHz. In addition, a built-in arbitrary waveform generator delivers sample rates up to 2 GS/s and 14-bit amplitude resolution for generating or replicating any waveform. All instruments in the series are equipped with a stable time base whose drift is specified at ±1 ppm per year. In addition, all models include a 5.6" LCD that displays both graphical waveforms and instrument settings. The series consists of three single-channel and three dual-channel models, with the latter providing completely independent selection of waveform and frequency for each channel. Prices range from $1,780 to $8,500. TEKTRONIX INC., Beaverton, OR. (800) 426-2200.
