Powertrain components supplier Advanced Mechanical Products has developed a zero emission, all-electric powertrain and converted a Saturn Sky from gas to electric power to demonstrate the technology. The firm said the car will run for 150 miles on a single charge.

The firm has applied for funding under Section 136 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). It builds all-electric powertrains for use in new or existing American-made vehicles, using lithium phosphate batteries to convert American-made cars into 100% electric-powered vehicles. Online orders for the all-electric car are being fulfilled.
