Garmin (www.garmin.com) has developed a mounting solution designed for seamless integration of the Garmin nüvi 760 with vehicle electronics on Ford (www.ford.com) Europe vehicles including the Focus, C-Max, Kuga, new Fiesta, Transit, and Transit Connect.

Garmin has developed a mounting solution designed for seamless integration of the Garmin nüvi 760 with vehicle electronics on Ford Europe vehicles including the Focus, C-Max, Kuga, new Fiesta, Transit, and Transit Connect.

Roger Jollis, Garmin's director of OEM & mobile marketing, said Ford has designed a plug and play solution that does not obstruct the driver’s field of vision.

Wolfgang Köhler, Ford of Europe project manager and vice president, product strategy and C-Platform FCSD-E Vehicle Personalization, said the design of the mount and user interface “allows drivers to navigate safely while enjoying driving.” The premium version of the mount includes a traffic receiver.

Ford owners can mount a standard nüvi directly to the interior trim, near the driver's wing mirror rather than to the windshield via a traditional suction cup mount. The special mount, for left-hand drive cars, is powered by the vehicle and eliminates the need for exposed power cables. The mount charges the nüvi's internal battery so that the device can also be used outside of the car.

Garmin has partnerships in Europe with Volvo Cars, BMW, MINI, Mercedes Benz, Suzuki, Honda and Land Rover. In North America Garmin has partnerships with Ford , Mazda, Nissan, Honda, BMW and MINI.
