Analog and mixed-signal semiconductor developer Monolithic Power Systems Inc. said BCD Plus, the next generation of its BiCMOS/DMOS power management technology, is entering initial production. The technology, which is used in automotive applications, is said to double current-handling capability and switching frequency, with very little power conversion loss.
MPS president and chief executive officer Michael Hsing said that compared with current-generation technology, BCD Plus has the potential to reduce die sizes buy up to 35% for the same feature set. Products to provide higher integration levels, higher current-handling capability and higher switching frequency in a given package size.
