Based on the company's patented CMOS RF architecture, the single-chip Si4135 CDMA RF synthesizer meets the stringent phase noise performance requirements of the IS-95 and Advanced Mobile Phone Service (AMPS) cellular standards. Additionally, the synthesizer eliminates the need for more than 40 external components, including RF VCOs, decreasing required board space by up to 90% over traditional solutions and providing significant cost savings, the company says. This newest member of the company's Criterium RF synthesizer family is designed for single-band, dual-band, dual-mode and tri-mode CDMA/AMPS handsets and other IS-95 wireless data applications in the U.S. and Korea. Offered in a 5 mm x 5 mm MLP28 package, the Si4135 is priced at $6.75 each/10,000. An evaluation board, the Si4135M-EVB, sells for $150. SILICON LABORATORIES INC., Austin, TX. (512) 464-9432.
