Edge-Card Connector Fits Pentium IIs

Aug. 1, 1998

The Metrec 1-mm pitch edge-card connector with 242 pins has 20% more contacts per inch than conventional 0.050" pitch PCI type edge-card interconnects. The two-level contact design of this Intel-approved Slot 1 connector makes it possible to use standard board manufacturing tolerances despite the tighter pitch. The connector uses a proprietary contact design to eliminate solder bridging between closely-spaced board tails. And it supports Intel's single edge contact (SEC) cartridge technology for housing Pentium II processors with dual independent bus architecture.
