Offered as a low-cost alternative to complex vision systems, the PosCon ZADM 22 pocket-sized, retroreflective line-scan sensor are said to provide complete signal-processing and data-transmission capabilities. They feature three standard measuring ranges of 20, 150 and 350 mm.
Width, edge or center position can be programmed using on-board teach-in buttons and displayed either as an analog value from 4 to 20 mA or at the serial interface. An upper and lower measuring value can be programmed along the analog output scale and will remain programmed even if power is removed from the sensor. Via an optional RS-485 interface, all control functions can be remotely activated. Polarizing optics are also available for detecting clear objects.
