Fast serial transfers using four software-configurable, RS-422/-485 UART interfaces can be performed using the model P507 PCI mezzanine card (PMC). The card supports full- (RS-422) and half-duplex (RS-485) operation. Each channel on the PMC features independent 500-V isolation, enabling the 32-bit/33-MHz P507 to supply data rates of up to 921,600 bits/s. The UART interfaces also provide a 60-byte transmit/receive buffer. All ports are available on a shielded 50-pin, D-sub front panel connector. Qualified for an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and prepared for coating against dust and humidity, the P507 PMC is especially useful in safety-critical and mobile applications. The card can be used on all PMC-compliant host carrier boards in any type of bus system independent of the application, such as CompactPCI, VME, or on any stand-alone single-board computer in telecommunication, industrial, medical, transportation and aerospace applications. It carries 32 Mbytes of soldered SDRAM DDR2 memory and a 132-MHz memory bus frequency. In addition, 2 Mbytes of FPGA-controlled, non-volatile flash memory is included for FPGA data and NIOS firmware. Pricing for the P507 PMC is $703 each with delivery in six weeks from receipt of order. MEN MICRO INC., Ambler, PA. (215) 542-9575.
