Developed to meet the demand for higher current devices compatible with todayÕs faster and more powerful microprocessors, the HM73 Series of molypermalloy powder-based, self-shielding, surface-mount inductors can handle from 6A up to 40A of current and is available in 16 standard ratings of from 0.1 to 8.2 µH. The higher current ratings enable designers to use fewer inductors in their µP-based circuits. Depending on the OEMÕs requirements and the voltage regulation needed, HM73 inductors can pack 400 µJoules/cm3 versus only 100 µJoules/cm3 for power choke-type devices. Other features of the new high-current inductors include a board-mounted profile of only 3.5 to 5.5 mm, footprints as small as 8.5 x 7.5 mm, dc resistance ratings of 0.08 to 15.2 m½, and an operating temperature range of -40¡C to +125¡C. Typical pricing is less than $1 each in volume quantities and lead times are from 12 to 14 weeks ARO. For more information, contact David Smolik at BI TECHNOLOGIES, Fullerton, CA. (714) 447-2759.
