MeshConnect EM358x Mini Modules from California Eastern Laboratories (CEL) capitalize on the latest enhancements in Silicon Labs’ EM3588 system-on-a-chip (SoC) to facilitate new ways to link into and control ZigBee network environments within Connected Home, Building Automation, and other machine-to-machine (M2M) applications. The modules 2.7 times more flash memory and five times more RAM than its EM357-based predecessors. The added flash boosts application storage and over-the-air programming capability, while the added RAM enables support for ZigBee IPv6-based networks (e.g., the ZigBee Smart Energy 2.0 standard). The RAM enhancement also opens the door to tasks requiring real-time operating system (RTOS) execution times, and supports larger mesh networks. A built-in USB controller facilitates integration of ZigBee into existing devices with USB connectivity. All modules, which are FCC-, IC-, CE-, and iControl-certified, employ the Silicon Labs’ ZigBee PRO Stack (EmberZNet PRO). Standard (+8 dBm) and long-range (+20 dBm) options are available.
