SAW Clock Oscillator Stomps Down The Noise

Aug. 30, 2013
A 245.70-MHz SAW clock oscillator developed by Crystek leveraged to proprietary circuitry and surface-acoustic-wave (SAW) resonator technology to deliver ultra-low jitter/phase-noise performance.

A 245.70-MHz SAW clock oscillator developed by Crystek leveraged to proprietary circuitry and surface-acoustic-wave (SAW) resonator technology to deliver ultra-low jitter/phase-noise performance. Phase noise measures −150 dBc/Hz at 10-kHz offset; the noise floor is −169 dBc/Hz. Thanks to the availability of 3.3- and 5-V input voltage, the CCSO-914X-245.760 oscillator generates a true sinewave with +8 dbm minimum output power. It has no subharmonics, and the second harmonic is −20 dBc typical. Operating temperature ranges from −40 to +85°C. The device comes in a 9- by 14-mm surface-mount package. Applications include analog-to-digital converters; system clocks for network clock generators/synchronizers; clocks for DDS; test and measurement; avionics; point-to-point radios; and multipoint radios.
