Those looking for extended measurement capabilities in terms of, say, shock detection and sports-equipment safety testing, may want to consider API Technologies’ new high-g digital accelerometer. The user-configurable device measures up to 500 g. Different models of the unit, available in ±500 g and ±250 g, include single axis (#15208A), dual axes (#25208A), and triaxial (#35208A). The fully calibrated accelerometers contain a temperature sensor, signal processor, three analog outputs, and an RS-485 interface that connects directly to the user’s PC. Other features include ruggedized construction; high accuracy and linearity over a wide temperature range; power and connector kits to simplify setup; and application assistance and data-analysis tools.
