In addition to multi-zone fan control, the EMC6D102 IC provides voltage and hardware monitoring and acoustic noise reduction features. The device comes in a 24-pin SSOP package and is designed to control the speed of a single fan with up to three thermal zones and monitors up to five power supplies. Temperature monitors provide one internal diode for ambient temperature measurement and two thermal diode inputs accommodate two external sensors. Other features include four tachometer inputs, three PWM outputs, two interrupts, continuous and cycle monitoring modes, sleep and shutdown modes, and four VID inputs. Price is $2.20 each in production quantities. For more information, call STANDARD MICROSYSTEMS CORP (SMSC), Hauppauge, NY. (631) 435-6000.
