Pressure Transducer Uses ASIC To Obtain A 1% Full-Scale-Output Total Error Band The MSP 600 pressure transducer is designed for a broad range of OEM industrial control and monitoring apps. Its sensing diaphragm and pressure port are fabricated from a single piece of stainless steel, while an ASIC provides signal conditioning, amplification, and compensation. In fact, this ASIC has produced a 1% full-scale-output (FSO) total error band between −20°C and 85°C in the 0- to 75-psi through the 0- to 10,000-psi models. Similarly, it has resulted in a ±1.5% FSO in the 0- to 25-psi through the 0- to 75-psi models. This error band includes combined linearity, hysteresis, and repeatability. Also, microfused strain-gage technology gives the MSP 600 ±0.25% FSO long-term stability. Its output signal level is 0.5 through 4.5 V dc (ratiometric). Also, 1- to 5-V dc (three wires) and 4- to 20-mA (two wires) nonratiometric output signal levels are offered, as are customized configurations.

Sample and production quantities are now available. The MSP 600 starts at $60 in 1000-unit quantities, depending on electrical output.

Compact Temperature Sensor Module Governs Vehicular A/C Systems The 143-124, a compact temperature sensor module that maintains vehicle A/C systems, includes a precision thermistor element and hybridized electronics. Based on the system's evaporation air temperature, these features drive the A/C compressor's control relay, thereby maximizing the system's efficiency. The module's sensing element protrudes into the evaporator's airflow and measures the air temperature. When the temperature exceeds the programmable, pre-established trip point, the module's relay control circuit activates the compressor. Once the temperature reaches the second lower trip point, the module resets and deactivates the compressor. This prevents icing and maintains the A/C unit's efficiency.

Pricing starts at about $4. Contact the company for additional information.

High-Purity Pressure Transducer Monitors Specialty Processes In Gas Delivery Systems Designers can install the Model 217 pressure transducer on their modular "Block" glass sticks or panels to monitor specialty gas processes in high-purity gas delivery systems and semiconductor product tools. Variable capacitance sensing technology provides the device's zero stability and long-term reliability. It also features a down-mount "C" seal pressure fitting. The small swept sensor chamber utilizes VAR 316L SS electropolished to a 7Ra (10 max.) finish for contaminant-free operation and system purging. Additionally, this transducer is mass spectrometer helium leak tested to 1 × 10−9 ATM.CC/s.

Several options are available. Designers can choose between 5-V dc, 10-V dc, or 4- to 20-mA outputs with 0.25% of full scale or 1.0% of reading accuracy. Pressure ranges include 0 to 25 psi through 0 to 3000 psi in gauge, absolute, or compound pressure. Bar ranges start at 0 to 7 bar and increase to 0 to 200 bar. Electrical termination is provided through a 15- or 9-pin D-sub connector, a 4-pin bayonet connector, or a 6-ft. multiconductor cable. All models meet the latest SEMI standard 2787.1E revisions.

Mini Ultrasonic Sensor Line Provides Short-Range Sensing For Dual-Level Control Applications The SUPERPROX Model SM602 series of 18-mm ultrasonic sensors provides short-range sensing solutions for specific dual-level control applications where mounting space is limited. These devices feature a 38.1-mm deadband and sensing ranges up to 305 mm, and they can be configured for a specific on/off latch control function or for a dual-alarm sensing function. They also have a 12- to 24-V dc operating voltage and a 500-kHz operating frequency. Options include near and far limit parameters, alarm limits, and output types. Three operating functions—pump in, pump out, and dual alarm—are available as well.

The SM602 devices compatibly integrate with most programmable-logic controllers. They're epoxy-sealed for the harsh environments found in many level-control applications. They have been rated for NEMA 4X and IP67 protection. Changing light conditions, colors, noise, noncondensing humidity, caustic chemicals, and other hostile environments have no effect on them. Also, they're resistant to most acids and bases, and the SS303 stainless-steel housing permits application use where USDA-3A sanitary resistance is required. All of these sensors are CE certified, too.
