Version 4.10 of the IAR Embedded Workbench for HCS12, a development toolchain from IAR Systems, increases functionality to improve ease of use and workflow efficiency when working with Freescale’s 16-bit HCS12 microcontrollers (MCUs).

Version 4.10 of the IAR Embedded Workbench for HCS12, a development toolchain from IAR Systems, increases functionality to improve ease of use and workflow efficiency when working with Freescale’s 16-bit HCS12 microcontrollers (MCUs). The Workbench’s IAR C/C++ Compiler now uses the ISO/IEC 9899:1999 standard (known as C99) as the default C language. The new version adds IAR’s updated text editor and source browser. New features include auto completion, parameter hint, code folding, block select, block indent, bracket matching, zoom, and word/paragraph navigation. Source browser functionality expands with the ability to go directly to a chosen declaration, and to find all references to a symbol. Project connections introduced in Version 4.10 help simplify using device configuration tools alongside IAR Embedded Workbench. Integration with the Subversion control system facilitates collaboration between development teams, such as sharing files in a project and keeping track of source-code versions. Updates to C-SPY Debugger include a custom special function registers (SFR) window (making it possible to define custom SFRs’ selectable size and type) and new Macro Quicklaunch window (enables evaluation of expressions and launching of C-SPY macros). Also, a browsable Call Graph window displays all calls made to and from each function from any source file.
