STMicroelectronics and Mobileye N.V. are co-developing the next generation of their system-on-chip processor for vision-based driver-assistance applications. The EyeQ3 and EyeQ3-Lite will be the first members of the gen3 family. First generation EyeQ1 is currently in production at several car makers and offers functions that include lane-departure warning, adaptive-headlight control, traffic-sign recognition, collision avoidance via radar-camera fusion, and forward-collision warning. For EyeQ3, the companies foresee a more powerful architecture, six times more powerful than its predecessor. Design is already underway and expect stress-test qualification to AEC-Q100 in 2013.
