A line of 7-segment and 5-by-7 dot-matrix LED displays has been expanded to include products designed to be economical choices for cost-constrained commercial applications. These devices are available with color and brightness binning. In other words, parts were sorted after they came off the assembly line, providing users with parts that have tighter or wider specifications.

One of the models, a 20-mm, character-height, 7-segment display with a decimal point offers viewing distances of up to 10 meters and a 50° viewing angle. A 14.2-mm, 2-digit, LED 7-segment display with decimal point, meanwhile, provides viewing distances of up to 7 meters and a 50° viewing angle. The 17.3-mm, character-height, 5-by-7 dot-matrix version can display a full range of alpha and numeric characters, with 12-meter visibility.

In million-unit quantities, these LED displays are priced from $1 to $3 each. Samples of the displays can be obtained by going to the company's web site.
