Low-Power DSPs Get Performance Upgrade

Sept. 24, 2010
The TMS320C5504 and TMS320C5505 digital signal processors (DSPs) running at 150 MHz now provide 25% higher performance than previous C55x devices.

The TMS320C5504 and TMS320C5505 digital signal processors (DSPs) running at 150 MHz now provide 25% higher performance than previous C55x devices. According to TI, both processors offer the industry’s lowest total power at less than 0.15 mW/MHz and standby power at less than 0.15 mW. The processors include up to 320 KB of memory and multiple peripherals that reduce system cost by more than 20% over earlier C55x processors. Prices for the TMS320C5504 and TMS320C5505 are $6.20 and $7.45 each/1,000, respectively. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
