The PCIx515 family of PCI CardBus controllers consists of four pin-compatible devices that integrate FireWire (1394a) and Smart Card functionality. Each device includes a PCI-based CardBus controller as PCI function 0 that provides bridging between the PCI bus and PC Cards. Two family members include a PCI-based 1394 controller as PCI function 2. The 1394 controller is compatible with IEEE Standard 1394a through 2000 and includes the IEEE 1394 link and a one-port PHY. It supports data rates of 100, 200, and 400 Mb/s. Another two devices include a PCI-based Smart Card controller as PCI function 5. In terms of security, each member relies on GemCore technology from Gemplus, which ensures the Smart Card interface is compliant with all relevant standards including ISO7816, PC/SC, B1 (with CT-API), and EMV. Prices range from $4.60 to $9.50 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924, ext. 4500.
