The LTC3832 high-efficiency step-down dc-dc controller converts input supplies ranging from 3 to 8 V to an output voltage as low as 0.6 V at up to 15 A. The device provides a very low output voltage with ±1% accuracy to power the newest generation of logic ICs, such as DSPs and network processors. The LTC3832 integrates powerful MOSFET drivers that operate synchronously to provide operating efficiencies as high as 95% over a wide range of load currents. The operating frequency is adjustable from 100 to 500 kHz. The dc-dc controller features a precision ±0.8% 0.6-V reference voltage. The IC requires no sense resistor for current limiting. The current limit is detected by sensing the current through the drain-source resistance of the upper N-channel MOSFET. The LTC3832's 1% output regulation is guaranteed over line, load, and temperature variations. The part is available in an eight-pin SO (LTC3832-1) or a 16-pin SSOP (LTC3832). Pricing for the LTC3832-1 and LTC3832 starts at $2.95 and $3.10 each, respectively, in 1000-unit quantities.
