The CSS series ultra-low resistance surface-mount metal strip resistor handles up to 45 A of current at 1 W. It exhibits extremely low inductance and low TCRs. Offered in a two-terminal design and a four-terminal Kelvin design, it has a resistance offering of 0.0005 to 0.002 Ω.

The resistor is used in applications requiring precision current sensing, battery charging, power-management circuits in computers, overcurrent protection in power supplies, and motor-control circuitry where current-sense devices are used. This resistor is rated for a full 1 W at 70°C. Available in tolerances of 1%, 3%, and 5%, with TCRs as low as ±20 ppm/°C, it's rated for operation from -40°C to 125°C. Low inductance values of less than 0.1 nH at 100 and 300 kHz and continued stability beyond 300 MHz make the CSS series ideal for high-speed computer power-supply applications.

In 1000-unit quantities, typical pricing for the CSS series is about $0.50 each.
