With the NI PXI-8231 Gigabit Ethernet and NI PXI-8232 Gigabit Ethernet and GPIB controller modules, engineers can connect their PXI systems to Gigabit Ethernet networks and in the process transfer files, connect to networks and view images across a network at faster speeds. Transmission speeds of up to 500 Mb/s and receive speeds of up to 800 Mb/s can be realized with the set-up. The Gigabit Ethernet port automatically switches between 10, 100 and 1,000 Mb/s modes, depending on network capability. And an Auto-MDI feature auto-detects whether the cable is a straight through or crossover Ethernet cable. The modules integrate with all PXI hardware products and a variety of software. The 8231 costs $495 and 8232, $795. For more details, call Ernest Martinez at NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS, Austin, TX. (800) 258-7022.
