Users looking to improve safety when directly connecting dc electronic devices to a dc micro grid can opt for the Saf-D-Grid connector system. Developed by Anderson Power Products, the system is suited for dc servers or any device connecting directly to renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind power. It meets international safety requirements for low-voltage applications to 400 V dc, including UL950 and IEC60950. The low-profile panel receptacle fits the standard panel cut-out for IEC320 C14 outlets, providing touch-safe connections up to 20 A at 600 V dc. The connectors are hot-plug rated up to 700-A inrush current at 400V. They also shield users from arc flash during un-mating. A first-mate, last-break contact provides ground, and an integral latch prevents connectors from accidental un-mating. UL94 V-O-rated polycarbonate housings come in 2-, 3-, and 5-meter lengths in both single- and double-ended styles.
