PCX-9 Quiet Steel is a family of sound-damping, constrained layer materials consisting of outer skins and a 0.001"-thick viscoelastic polymer core. Optimum damping occurs over a temperature range of 110° to 230° F with peak damping at 170° F. PCX-9 is used in applications such as automotive oil pans, valve covers and transmission covers. PCX-9 can be fabricated from steel, stainless-steel, aluminum, etc., and is supplied in coil form.
