Lauded by the company as the most revolutionary relay since the invention of the TO-5 in 1961, this compact, DPDT, surface-mount latching device is characterized up to 10 GHz. The RF522 is said to be the smallest 30W microwave switch, achieving 97% higher isolation at 7 GHz, 57% lower insertion loss at 7 GHz and 20 times more power at 5 GHz than similar relays. The relay is rated from dc to 10 GHz over a temperature range of –55°C to +85°C. It is designed in two coil voltages, 5 and 12 Vdc, and features 50Ω characteristic impedance. The relay employs lead-free construction and is sealed against moisture and contamination. Measurements are 18 mm x 18 mm x 8.5 mm; ground bumps add .35 mm to the depth. Weight is 14g. With greater bandwidth than a TO-5 relay and a package smaller than a coaxial switch, the RF522 is suited for applications in the test and measurement, military and aerospace, and point-to-point telecommunications markets. The company supplies test and reliability data for the device, and evaluation test kits are available. Pricing is $80 each. TELEDYNE RELAYS, Hawthorne, CA. (800) 284-7007.
