Claimed to be the industry’s first 32-bit ARM7TDMI-S processor core microcontrollers (MCUs) fabbed using a 0.18 µm CMOS flash process for 1.8V operation, the LPC2100 family operates at 60 MHz (54 Dhrystone MIPs) and packs 128-bit wide, zero-wait- state flash memory. Three devices in the family - the LPC2104, LPC2105 and LPC2106 - include 16 to 64 KB of SRAM. Each is similar with the exception of the amount of SRAM. As an example, the LPC2104 comes with 128 KB of flash memory, 16 KB of SRAM, a realtime clock, watchdog timer, PLL, and PWMs. I/O is via I2C and SPI interfaces plus two UARTs. Other features of the MCUs include EmbeddedICE-RT and ETM, in-system flash programming, updating boot-block software, and the ARM real-time monitor on-chip. Future additions to the family will include CAN, ADC, Ethernet, USB, and 802.11 interfaces. Available in 48-pin LQFPs and 48-pad HVQFNs, prices for the LPC2104, LPC2105 and LPC2106 are less than $5, $6 and $8 each/10,000, respectively. ROYAL PHILIPS ELECTRONICS, San Jose, CA.
