A compact, lightweight (less than 0.9 lb.) option for integrating air data processing into an existing avionics subsystem comes by way of Curtiss-Wright Corp. Defense Solutions with its Air Data Computer Module (ADCM). Direct integration into the host equipment ultimately lowers overall weight, and thus cuts fuel consumption. The slot-based solution employs high-accuracy, high-stability vibrating cylinder sensor technology, which eliminates the need for calibration and costs of scheduled maintenance. It also significantly reduces drift to shrink downtime and increase operational readiness. Designed for both civil and defense aircraft platforms, the module helps simplify integration of air data processing into avionics such as attitude heading reference systems (AHRS), electronics flight instrument systems (EFIS), inertial reference systems (IRS), and global navigation inertial reference systems (GNIRS). It’s also configurable for future airspace requirements, including NextGen and SESAR’s advanced air-traffic management.
