OpenVPX Processing Module Delivers Up To 608 GFLOPS

Powered by two 10-core Intel Xeon processors (E5-2648L v2), Mercury Systems’ Ensemble HDS6602 high-density server offers peak symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) performance of up to 608 GFLOPS. The 6U processing module uses Mellanox’s ConnectX-3 technology to exploit InfiniBand or Ethernet as a high-performance interconnect in OpenVPX: On-board Gen 3 PCI Express pipes feed the data plane with either 40-Gbit/s Ethernet (TCP/IP and Sockets) or DDR/QDR/FDR10 InfiniBand (OpenMPI and OFED). The Xeon E5-2648L v2 (codenamed Ivy Bridge-EP) processors run at 1.9 GHz and support up to 128 Gbytes of memory. Thanks to native Intel Quick Path Interconnect (QPI) v1.1 inter-processor interconnects, virtual cache-coherent processor cores can deliver true deterministic processing. Mercury’s Air Flow-By cooling technology enables full-throttle processing. Applications for the HDS6602 open-fabric server blade include complex radar and other massively intensive embedded-processing designs.
