Popular MLCCs Increase Capacitance

Vishay Intertechnology has increased the minimum capacitance values for its VJ HVArc Guard surface-mount X7R multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs).

Vishay Intertechnology has increased the minimum capacitance values for its VJ HVArc Guard surface-mount X7R multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs). For lower capacitance values, the company offers a C0G (NP0) dielectric option with a voltage range of 1 kV to 2.5 kV in five case sizes from 0805 to 2225. The minimum capacitance values for VJ HVArc Guard X7R MLCCs have increased to 470 pF in the 0805 case size and to 220 pF in the 1206, 1210, 1808, and 1812 case sizes. If lower capacitance is required, 1-kV X7R components in the 0805, 1206, and 1210 case sizes can be replaced by C0G MLCCs, which offer a low minimum capacitance of 10 pF.
