The MIC23150 has the highest output current in Micrel’s HyperLight Load family of synchronous step-down regulators. The regulator’s patented architecture delivers an extremely high efficiency light load—93% peak and 87% under a 1-mA load—for portable products and green home/office appliances. Internal MOSFETs can deliver up to 1.5-A output current while consuming only 23 µA of quiescent current inside a 2- by 2-mm thin micro lead-frame (MLF) package.

The regulator operates at 4 MHz and requires just three external components for a complete solution just 1 mm high. Featuring an operating input supply range from 2.7 V to 5.5 V, both regulators are suitable for applications powered by a single-cell lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery, 3.3 V dc, or a 5-V dc power source. Output accuracy is ±2.5% over the operating junction temperature range of –40ºC to 125ºC. Internal protection features include undervoltage lockout, current limit, and thermal shutdown.

The MIC23150 comes in fixed-output options of 1.0, 1.2, 1.8, and 3.3 V. Prices start at $1.00 in quantities of 1000. Samples can be ordered now online.
