The LT8614 42-V, input-capable synchronous step-down switching regulator features a Silent Switcher architecture, which reduces EMI/EMC emissions by more than 20 dB. Though switching frequencies top 2 MHz, synchronous rectification enables up to 96% efficiency. Low-ripple burst-mode operation keeps quiescent current under 2.5 µA in no-load standby conditions, and output ripple below 10 mV p-p. Internal high-efficiency switches deliver up to 4 A of continuous output current to voltages down to 0.97 V. Minimum dropout voltage is 200 mV at 1 A under all conditions. Minimum on-time of 30 ns enables 2-MHz constant frequency switching from a 16-V input to a 1.0-V output. Other features include internal compensation, a power-good flag, output soft-start/tracking, and thermal protection. Linear Tech’s switcher comes in a 20-lead 3- by 4-mm QFN package. Operating junction temperature ranges from −40 to 125°C.
