Six new CMOS low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulators provide accurate, stable voltage to subsystems requiring from 1.5 to 5.0 V. The devices deliver extremely low quiescent currents ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 µA. The NCP55x series offers a maximum input of 12 V, and the NCP56x series provides a 6-V maximum input voltage. None of the regulators require a bypass capacitor to reduce noise. Both series come in the ultrasmall SC82-AB surface-mount package as well as SOT-23 and TSOP-5 package options. Pricing ranges from $0.35 to $0.39 each in 12,000-unit quantities.
