Dubbed by Intersil as a “complete power supply in a package,” the ISL8216M 80-V, 4-A non-isolated dc-dc step-down power module will target high-voltage infrastructure and industrial applications like telecom/networking and factory test equipment. Input voltage ranges from 10 to 80 V and adjustable output ranges from 2.5 to 30 V. As a result, the device will flexibly fit into 12-, 24-, 36-, and 48-V applications such as high-voltage embedded board controllers. Output regulation is ±1% over a ‒40 to +85°C ambient range. Programmable switching frequency span 200 to 600 kHz. The module, which requires only five external components, comes in a thermally enhanced 15- by 15- by 3.6-mm overmolded high-density-array (HDA) package. Protection includes overcurrent, overvoltage/undervoltage, and overtemperature shutdown.
