POL Regulators Hoist Efficiency And Functionality Levels

Oct. 27, 2010
Growing the SupIRBuck family of integrated point-of-load (POL) voltage regulators, the IR3837M, IR3838M, and IR3839M SupIRBuck voltage regulators and trackers integrate a high-performance controller with the latest generation of the company’s MOSFETs in a 5 x 6 mm PQFN package.

They deliver up to 14A, 10A, and 6A of output current, respectively, to achieve more than 96% peak efficiency. Offering higher functionality, the latest features include single-rail input voltages of 4.5V to 16V, external references for margining purposes, internal digital soft-start, and external synchronization to reduce noise and EMI in multi-rail systems. Additionally, the devices are configurable for DDR memory tracking or sequencing and offer power-good outputs for under-voltage and over-voltage detection with tracking capability. Prices range from $1.40 to $2.10 each/100,000. For more information, contact Sian Cummins at INTERNATIONAL RECTIFIER, El Segundo, CA. (310) 252-7148.
