Two new InGaP HBT power amplifiers are designed for use in multi-mode, multi-band CDMA handsets that support 2.5G CDMA applications. According to the company, the AWT6105 and AWT6106 meet the rigorous performance requirements of next generation CDMA handsets by providing high linearity and high efficiency in a small module package. The AWT6105 is specifically designed for Cellular CDMA, CDMA-1X and AMPS applications in the 824 to 849 MHz range; and the AWT6106 is targeted for PCS CDMA and CDMA-1X applications operating at 1,850 to 1,910 MHz. Both devices combine all of the necessary passive components for full compensation and 50_ input/output matching. Both are +3.5 Vdc devices with 6mm x 6mm footprint, 1.6 mm profile, and low leakage. InGaP HBT processing is unique, the company says, in that it outperforms other technologies by offering higher efficiency at high power levels and lower operating voltages. The AWT6105 demonstrates 37% power added efficiency in the CDMA bandwidth and 45% in the AMPS bandwidth, while the AWT6106 provides 35% power added efficiency. For both devices, this translates directly to extended battery life and longer talk times for the wireless handset. The AWT6105 and AWT6106 are priced at $4.95 each/10,000. ANADIGICS, Warren, NJ.
