Brushless Fans Operate At High Static Pressure

March 1, 2001

Answering the increased cooling needs of the latest high-performance servers, a new series of 92-mm brushless dc fans are claimed to deliver up to 110 cfm with acoustic ratings 5 dBA quieter than competitive models. Fans in the WideBody TA350DC series have maximum air flow ratings of 77, 90 and 110 cfm. The 38 mm-wide air frame is designed to operate at static pressure as high as 0.55 inwg. Alarm and tachometer circuits and thermal speed control options are available on all models. Standard features include reverse polarity protection, permanently lubricated ball bearings, sound-absorbing thermoplastic frames and impellers rated UL94V-0, color-coded 11.8” leads, and an operating temperature range of -10°C to +70°C. In addition, by using their built-in interactive control, two fans can operate in tandem. When active, two fans running together slowly are said to deliver the same air flow as one fan running fast, but with much less noise. The cooling fans are priced from $8.50 each/1,000.
