Crosspoint Switch Reduces Power Consumption

Targeting the video and image-processing equipment market, the OCX1601 crosspoint switch claims to reduce power consumption in routing switchers, production switchers, and other broadcast video systems. The device features a non-blocking 80 x 80 I/O switch matrix that provides a total of 160 configurable I/O ports. It supports data streams at line rates up to 1.6 Gb/s per port, said to provide a sufficient margin for SDI video rates ranging from 143 Mb/s to 540 Mb/s, as well as 1.485 Gb/s for HDTV. The switch may also be used for telecomm switching at OC-3 to )C-12 data rates and in High-speed VLSI semiconductor test equipment.
