A software tool suite of five different products lends a powerful hand to WiMAX orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signal generation and analysis at the physical layer (PHY). The $9600 Signal Studio (E4438C option H13) enables designers to generate IEEE 802.16-2004-compliant signals for component test. The suite contains the $5000 89600 vector signal-analysis software (option B7S OFDM modulation analysis) and the $52,900 E4440 PSA spectrum analyzer with the $29,000 80-MHz digitizer option. Also included is the Advanced Communications Model set in the Advanced Design System 2004A, which starts at $9230.
