Tyco Electronics has introduced a line of PolySwitch circuit protection devices that help provide resettable overcurrent protection for bus and truck wire harnesses in 24 V electrical systems.

Key device parameters for the seven-member AHEF family include hold-current ratings from 0.50 A to 10 A with a maximum fault-current rating of 100 A. The maximum operating voltage rating is 32 V for all devices, the same as for vehicle electronics in Europe. The maximum operating temperature for the devices is 125°C, so they can be used in the engine compartment as well as in the passenger compartment. The devices are housed in radial-leaded packages. Prices range from $0.22 to $0.46 in 10k quantities. Deliveries are 8 to 10 weeks.
