This fall, thousands of visitors will gather at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif., to attend PowerSystems World. PowerSystems World, scheduled for Nov. 4-6, 2003, unites the Power Electronics Technology Conference & Exhibition and the Power Quality Conference under one roof. This combination creates a don't-miss event that covers subjects ranging from fundamental electronic components to large facility systems with power ratings in the megawatts, to the implications and effects of energy management and reliability.

PETech Exhibition & Conference

The Power Electronic Technology Conference & Exhibit will give attendees design guidance and feedback from key segments of the power electronics industry. It will offer guests the latest designs, products and services, as well as input from industry experts. From high-frequency magnetics to intelligent power systems, the PETech Conference & Exhibition will showcase the most up-to-date innovations by way of technical sessions, tutorials and exhibits.

In addition, the PETech Conference & Exhibition will feature the High-Voltage Pavilion, an area within the show floor dedicated exclusively to high-voltage manufacturers. Makers of high-voltage components and equipment will display their products and services, answer questions and help solve high-voltage challenges.

Industry-leaders Trey Burns and Alex Lidow will co-present the keynote address on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Long Beach Convention Center. Burns, vice president of Worldwide Technologies, will explore the question, “Will power electronics engineers have the tools, skill and technologies needed to continue to deliver attractive solutions?” He'll also offer his view of the challenges facing power electronics engineers in the near future. Lidow, International Rectifier's CEO, will address specific needs for power management systems; new control methods for PFC; a path to further integration for both dc-dc and ac-dc; and scalable architecture that yields short design cycles, lower costs and improves densities.

Highlights of the conference and exhibition will include: information-packed one-hour seminars; 11 professional advancement courses; 60 technical paper presentations; poster sessions and more than 200 exhibitors.

Power Quality Exhibition & Conference

Held in conjunction with Power Electronics Technology, this event is a great place to learn about new ideas, new products and new services that tackle power-related issues. Aimed at attendees who want power-quality solutions, the Power Quality Exhibition & Conference offers the opportunity to meet one-on-one with key industry leaders and peers.

Professional Advancement Courses

Both the PETech and Power Quality conferences and exhibitions will offer two days of professional advancement courses. Scheduled for Nov. 2-3, 2003, these courses are geared to help attendees make better product recommendations by meeting with manufacturers and inspecting, testing and pricing products. In addition, visitors can enhance their skill with conference sessions focusing on the technical and practical aspects of power electronics.

Hotels and Tourist Information

Three conference hotels are offering discounted PowerSystems World rates. The Hyatt Regency Long Beach, the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel and the Westin Long Beach are all within walking distance of the convention center. Visitors to Long Beach can take a cruise to Catalina Island, enjoy a day at the Aquarium of the Pacific or take a tour of the famous Queen Mary.
