ON Semiconductor recently announced that Hipro Electronics has selected the company's latest ATX design for its desktop PCs. The design offers 88% power efficiency (80 PLUS Silver) across all load points, reducing power losses by approximately 68%.

The ON Semiconductor ATX 88% efficiency solution for Hipro uses zero-voltage switching (ZVS) architecture and addresses all functional blocks of the ATX power supply, including power factor correction, switch-mode power supply control and regulation, post regulation and standby power The design utilizes several of ON Semiconductor's newest power management devices and draws from its leading discrete component portfolio to achieve superior efficiency performance..

ON Semiconductor unveiled the industry's first open GreenPoint ATX reference design certified to meet 80 PLUS performance requirements for computing applications in 2005. The company launched another industry's first ATX reference design that exceeds new ENERGY STAR efficiency standards for desktop computers in 2007.
