Arbitrary Noise Generator tests high-speed devices

The 81160A provides pulse, sine, square, ramp, noise, and arbitrary waveforms and signals with an intrinsic jitter of 7-ps rms. It generates 330-MHz pulses and 500-MHz function/arbitrary waveforms with a 2.5-GS/s sample rate and 14-bit vertical resolution. Crest factors for white Gaussian noise are selectable for determining how much distortion to apply to a device during stress testing to meet various serial bus standards.

The LXI class C-compliant pulse function arbitrary noise generator features glitch-free change of timing parameters including delay, frequency, transition time, width, and duty cycle. Arbitrary bit patterns show capacitive load of the channels using simple pattern settings.

An optional pattern generator supports 4-Mbit pattern memory for the one-channel instrument and 2-Mbit per channel for the two-channel unit. Agilent Technologies
