Germany-Made X-Ray and Optical Test Equipment Now Available in the U.S.

August 1, 2011

GOEPEL electronic’s automated x-ray and optical inspection (AXI/AOI) systems now are available to the North American market. This is another important strategic step towards meeting the significantly increased demands for optical test equipment for mounted PCBs in the United States and Canada.

David Whetstone, sales president of GOEPEL electronics Ltd, based in Austin, TX, said, “Many American engineers are keen to utilize technologically leading inspection equipment to ensure maximum product quality. In particular, tasks such as inspection quality, easy program generation, and low false call rates characterize our AOI and AXI machines best.”

GOEPEL electronics’ OptiCon AOI Systems, offered in several configuration versions, can be applied in various PCB production areas, such as before or after the soldering process and as stand-alone and inline variants. The AOI systems are able to detect manufacturing faults on multiple pin components, such as faulty solder joints and missing, misaligned, and wrong components.

GOEPEL electronic’s X-ray inspection system OptiCon X-Line 3D utilizes the GigaPixel image technology. A real-time multi-angle image recording capability is the basis that enables a test speed of 40cm²/s for full 3-D PCB capturing. Integrated reconstruction methods, based on digital tomosynthesis, allows highly defined evaluation of the board’s single layers.
