Multimeasurement signal analysis
Agilent Technologies has announced that a new multimeasurement capability is being added to its 89600 VSA Software, enabling simultaneous signal analysis of multiple carriers and signal formats for more efficient testing and deeper signal insight in wireless test. The 89600 now can deliver the power of multiple signal analyzers with the convenience of a single optimized user interface. The software’s architecture will enable engineers to configure multiple measurements simultaneously. Because all measurements reside in memory, any or all of them can be called on for immediate and coordinated execution. Agilent Technologies
LXI AC/DC power sources
AMETEK Programmable Power announced it has added LXI compliance to most of its California Instruments AC/DC power sources. The upgrade allows users to easily connect, configure, and control these power sources on a benchtop, on a network, or in distributed or remote locations. In addition, the supplies can be integrated with other LXI instruments to create multifunction ATE systems. The company said future products from its California Instruments, Elgar, and Sorensen brands also will incorporate LXI interfaces. AMETEK Programmable Power
Web-based temperature monitor
Omega’s iSD-TC Series provides web-based temperature monitoring in critical equipment and locations. The device accepts two thermocouple inputs (types J, K, T, E, R, S, B, C, N, L) and triggers an alarm that can be sent by email if the temperature goes below or above the set point. An alarm also can be triggered if the AC power fails. This product features the company’s iServer technology, which requires no special software except a web browser. The device is suitable for use in cleanrooms and computer rooms, laboratories, semiconductor fabs, and electronic assembly facilities. From $495. Omega Engineering
PXI chassis line
Geotest has announced two new additions to its 3U PXI chassis product line. The GX7305 Master Chassis and the GX7315 Slave Chassis feature 20 PXI slots with only one slot required for an embedded or remote controller, providing 19 peripheral PXI slots for instrumentation. Both chassis offer 1,600 W of system power, providing twice the power per slot (60 W) compared to a standard PXI chassis, and they have a high capacity, forced-air cooling configuration for effective thermal management of each peripheral PXI slot. GX7305: $9,995; GX7315: $8,895. Geotest-Marvin Test Systems
5-MHz DDS function generator
B&K Precision has introduced the low-cost 4005DDS Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) Function Generator to its signal generator line. The 4005DDS delivers sinusoidal, triangular, and square waveforms up to 5 MHz and provides the fundamental functions needed to familiarize new users with function generators. It features a 4-digit display and simple numeric keypad to generate sine, square, and triangle waveforms from 1 Hz to 5 MHz. With a variable output amplitude to 10 Vpp into 50 W or 20 Vpp into an open circuit, the instrument includes a DC offset control and the capability to attenuate the output waveform by up to 40 dB. $299. Fault insertion modules
Pickering Interfaces is expanding its range of more than 20 PXI fault insertion solutions with the introduction of the 40-199. Fault insertion (FI) modules are used within an automatic test system to simulate common fault conditions such as an open, short to ground, or a short to other connections in a device under test. The 40-199 provides 10 fault insertion channels that can be connected to either (or both) of two fault bus connections. Each fault insertion channel can switch up to 125 VDC with powers up to 300 W or 250 VAC at up to 2,500 VA. Pickering Interfaces
Yokogawa has announced the release of the latest firmware (Rev. 2.01) for its AQ6370C Optical Spectrum Analyzer. Enhancements include a new double-speed mode, which effectively increases the wavelength sweep speed up to two times compared to the previous version. Other improvements are enhanced analysis and search functions, additional items for optical transceiver testing, a graphical display for erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) analysis, a multipeak/bottom search function, and enhanced side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) analysis. New AQ6370C OSAs come with the firmware installed. Existing owners can download the new firmware for free. Yokogawa Corp. of America
Signal generators/analyzers
A major expansion to the Aeroflex S-Series family of benchtop RF measurement instruments includes two S-Series Digital Signal Generators—the SGD in both 3-GHz and 6-GHz models—and two vector signal analyzers—the SVA available in a 6-GHz and a 13-GHz model. The S-Series, which uses the company’s PXI technology, was introduced a year ago with the launch of the SGA Analog RF Signal Generators. The S-Series instruments incorporate a touchscreen interface and offer a form factor that allows a signal generator and analyzer to be accommodated side-by-side in a 19” rack. Aeroflex
DAQ hardware platform
The VibRunner Data Acquisition Hardware Platform from m+p international accommodates dynamic measurement and shaker control applications requiring a large number of channels and high data throughput. Designed to be used with m+p’s VibControl, SO Analyzer, and Coda software, VibRunner serves in noise and vibration analysis, vibration testing, and dynamic data acquisition. The 19” mainframe houses up to three front-mounted modules and can be used stand alone or rack mounted. The system offers 24-bit resolution and up to 102.4-kHz sampling rate. Multiple chassis can be distributed and synchronized using multiple Ethernet Gbit interfaces. m+p international
Two-path diode power sensors
The R&S NRP-Z211 (up to 8 GHz) and R&S NRP-Z221 (up to 18 GHz) power-sensor models from Rohde & Schwarz round out the company’s portfolio of multipath diode power sensors in the lower price segment. The modules permit power measurements over a dynamic range of 80 dB (-60 dBm to +20 dBm) for both CW and modulated signals. The noise component is two times less than that of comparable solutions, the company reports, resulting in a measurement speed increase by a factor of four. The power sensors can be operated on virtually all signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers from the company. In combination with the R&S NRP-Z4 USB adapter, the sensors can be used directly with a PC. Rohde & Schwarz
