Sampling oscilloscopes

New two- and four-channel 25-GHz models in the PicoScope 9300 family of sampling oscilloscopes support fifth-harmonic capture for data up to and including 10 Gb/s and third-harmonic capture up to 16 Gb/s. These rates, and others in between, are increasingly found in Ethernet, Thunderbolt, USB 3.1, PCIe 4, Rapid I/O, e-SATA, OC-192/STM-64, and OC-256 implementations. All have transmission lines, cables, components, transmitters, and receivers that need precompliance testing and characterization. The USB-controlled scopes are a cost-effective solution to today’s proliferation of gigabit-per-second data streams and their copper, wireless, and optical-fiber interconnect, the company said.

The PicoScope 9301-25 and 9341-25 sampling oscilloscopes now are available for $16,765 and $26,235, respectively. Pico Technology

Programmable AC and DC cabinet systems

A range of high-power AFX Series integrated cabinet test systems consists of two or more integrated AFX AC- and DC-capable programmable power sources in a parallel configuration for power levels of 18 kVA and higher. All are prewired for AC input and AC/DC output and are ready-to-use out of the crate. AFX power sources use a proprietary, all-digital power-conversion technology delivering higher power density than previously available, allowing a 45-kVA system to fit in a 33-inch bench-height cabinet, for example.

All AFX cabinet systems feature active power-corrected AC input with a wide input voltage range that allows them to be deployed anywhere in the world. Other features and capabilities include a 15-Hz to 1,200-Hz frequency range, a single 300-Vrms constant-power-mode voltage range, programmable rms or DC and peak current limit functions, and PPSC Studio Windows control software. Digital low-resistance ohmmeters

The DLRO10HDX 10-A digital low-resistance ohmmeter (DLRO) records tests and has onboard memory storage for up to 200 test records. This DLRO can be used in applications ranging from railways and aircraft to measuring resistance components in industrial environments.

Powered by either a rechargeable battery or an AC power supply that makes it suitable for continuous testing in production lines or repetitive-use environments, the DLRO10HDX combines simplicity of operation with a rugged IP65 case that is designed for stable ground and bench operation. The DLRO10HDX is capable of delivering 10 A into measurements up to 250 mΩ and 1 A into measurements up to 2.5 Ω. Tests can last up to one minute. Megger

IoT secure-element IC

The new STSAFE-A1SX secure-element (SE) IC is based on a tamper-resistant Common Criteria EAL5+ certified SE technology that enhances the integrity and confidentiality of transmissions to and from the IoT device over a Sigfox low-power wide-area network. The SE runs an optimized secure application that combines the vendor’s expertise in electronic security for applications in banking, e-commerce, and identity with Sigfox’s expertise in networking and data communications for IoT. TSAFE-A1SX connects to the microcontroller of the IoT application or module via an I2C connection.

Like other members of the STSAFE family, the STSAFE-A1SX ships with a full ecosystem of tools and software to speed its adoption by developers with or without expertise in secure designs. The STSAFE-A1SX SE is scheduled to enter production in May in both 4 x 5-mm SO8N and 2 x 3-mm UFDFPN8. STMicroelectronics

LCR meters

The new 894 and 895 bench LCR meters provide test frequencies from 20 Hz to 500 kHz and 20 Hz to 1 MHz, respectively, and can measure inductance, capacitance, and resistance with 0.05% basic impedance accuracy.

Both meters provide variable AC test signal levels from 5 mVrms to 2 Vrms, a built-in DC bias source, and three AC current ranges via the selectable 30/50/100-Ω AC source impedance setting. The 30-Ω internal impedance setting provides up to 66.7 mArms of drive current that is sufficient for testing large inductors and transformers. With a full array of test features and remote interfaces including a handler interface, the 894 and 895 are suitable for characterizing a variety of components in production and laboratory environments.

60-GHz transmitter module

The PEM010 millimeter-wave transmitter module is suitable for use in the development of multigigabit, high-speed, point-to-point wireless communication links. These links provide low-cost throughput for a variety of applications involving “last kilometer” distribution, telecommunications cellular backhaul, millimeter-wave wireless gigabit Ethernet data communications, building-to-building high-speed networking, and mesh-based LAN infrastructure.

The PEM010 operates in the global unlicensed frequency spectrum from 57.0 to 64.8 GHz. It also supports IEEE 802.11ad and 802.11aj Wi-Fi protocols for wireless, multigigabit, high-speed networking. This module’s design incorporates a SiGe MMIC-based frequency synthesizer and power amplifier. Pasternack

Spectrum analyzer

The R&S FPC1000 entry-class spectrum analyzer features a flexible keycode upgrade concept and integrated Wi-Fi for wireless remote control via mobile apps. The base model of the R&S FPC1000 covers a frequency range from 5 kHz to 1 GHz, which can be expanded to 2 GHz or 3 GHz via software upgrades. Upgrades can be purchased as needed and are available as soon as the keycode is entered. Recalibration is not required.

The R&S FPC1000 provides a low noise floor level of -150 dBm (typ), which can be further extended to -165 dBm (typ) with an optional keycode-activated preamplifier. Its high maximum input power allows users to measure RF signals up to +30 dBm (1 W). The combination of low noise floor and high maximum input power results in a wide measurement dynamic range. Flexible optical filters

Members of the Flexible Longpass Filters family offer deep blocking and excellent transmission over a large spectral range from 400 to 1,600 nm to accommodate a variety of applications, the vendor reports. The filters are constructed using ultrathin flexible polymers and dyes. They are scratch insensitive and provide equivalent durability to most industry-hard oxide coatings, making them extremely robust, the company said.
Flexible Longpass Filters are made of hundreds to thousands of polymeric and dyed sub-layers. Using these stacked materials allows them to be ultrathin, measuring 200 to 500 μm in thickness. Able to conform to both flat and curved surfaces, the filters can be cut into complex shapes and small dimensions down to 0.5 mm by using scissors, blades, or lasers. Edmund Optics

Flexible printed-circuit connector

The DF40GL Series low-profile flexible printed circuit (FPC) connector operates at USB 3.1 gen 2 speeds up to 10 Gb/s. The DF40GL Series is suitable for daughter boards in USB Type C applications. Featuring a pitch of 0.4 mm and a height of 1.5 mm, the connector features a blade-locking system. A minimized depth of 3.68 mm reduces the required mounting area, which creates additional PCB space for optimizing antenna design and accommodating larger batteries.

The DF40GL Series offers EMI protection and grounding via metal shielding. The stamped contact design contributes to an effective mating length of 0.45 mm. The 44-position DF40GL Series has a rating of 0.35 A, a rated voltage of 30 V AC/DC, and an operating temperature of -55 to +85°C. Hirose
