Sigrid Rotzer
Sigrid Rotzler is a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM working on the development of e-textiles with a focus on reliability testing and integration technologies. In parallel, she is pursuing her PhD at the Technical University (TU) Berlin, working on improving the washability of textile integrated electronics.
Following a pre-degree in physical engineering from TU Berlin and some years of freelance work in fashion and costume design, Sigrid obtained her master’s degree in garment technology from the University of Applied Sciences (HTW) Berlin, focusing on textile testing, the laundry process and smart textiles.
During her studies, she was part of the interdisciplinary research project Kooperation Wäschepflege for several years. As part of the project, she worked at BSH Hausgeräte GmbHs Technologiezentrum Wäschepflege for an internship and her Bachelor's thesis on testing procedures for non-standard washing programs. In 2018, Sigrid joined the Fraunhofer IZM for her Masters thesis on washability of textile integrated conductors, where she since works as a researcher associate.
Sigrid is vice-chair of the D-75A E-Textiles Wearables Standard Task Group developing the IPC 8981 Quality and Reliability of E-Textiles Wearables standard.
