Device software optimization specialist Green Hills Software Inc. has introduced six industry-specific development platforms, including one for automotive infotainment applications. The royalty-free platforms include all of the core software and documentation required to develop and deploy a targeted device, thus accelerating time-to-market, reducing development risk, and enabling developers to focus on application-level innovation and differentiation.

Dan O'Dowd, founder and chief executive officer, said the platforms integrate Green Hills development tools, INTEGRITY real-time operating system and middleware into pre-configured, industry-optimized platforms running on industry-specific reference hardware.

The Green Hills Platform for automotive infotainment addresses in-car infotainment and telematics systems. It is available with the INTEGRITY RTOS or velOSity microkernel and supports a broad range of middleware, including 2-D and 3-D graphics, global positioning system (GPS), navigation, text-to-speech, Bluetooth, voice processing, CD and MP3 decoding, Internet and wireless LAN, media-oriented system transport (MOST), controller area network (CAN) and USB. The platform is pre-integrated with reference hardware from Analog Devices and Freescale.
