NDS, which provides secure content delivery technology for digital pay-TV, is collaborating with semiconductor manufacturer Frontier Silicon for joint development and marketing of secure content protection and digital rights management (DRM) for mobile digital television and digital audio broadcasting (DAB) digital radio.

The agreement between the two companies is expected to address the security concerns that content providers have in releasing premium content into mobile digital television (MDTV) and DAB radio markets. The firms plan to develop a secure end-to-end solution based on NDS’ mVideoGuard content production technology, in which content will be securely encoded at the head-end, transmitted, and securely received or consumed by users with appropriate digital rights.
