ISA, a nonprofit organization for automation professionals, has begun funding efforts to aid residents of areas struck by hurricane Ike earlier this month. The organization is accepting corporate donations immediately and will accept donations from attendees at ISA EXPO Oct. 14-16 in Houston, Texas. ISA’s board of directors has also pledged to match funds collected, up to $10,000.

Individuals can donate cash or checks made out to the American Red Cross. They can also bid on dozens items in a silent auction scheduled during the industry reception at the Reliant Center on Tuesday, Oct. 14, fro 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Companies can send ISA a check made out to the American Red Cross, or they can pledge to match the funds raised by ISA EPXO attendees. Companies can also donate a gift valued at over $250 to the silent auction. The organization is asking for consumer items, and logos are welcome on the donations. Because of the time sensitivity of the disaster relief efforts, ISA is asking for the pledges or matching funds and silent auction donations by the end of the week. Details are available at www.isa.org/hurricanerelief.

“The Red Cross can’t do their important work without the support of the community—our community,” said ISA executive director and CEO Patrick Gouhin. “After all, these are our colleagues, our friends, our customers, and our suppliers, and we’ll support them and help them rebuild.”
